            Test Prober 2000

The Test Prober 2000 system is designed to automate the task of probing printed circuit boards that are being tested on automated test equipment.

This unit uses a high accuracy stepping motor design to position a probe to a node specified by the automated test equipment.  Positioning of the probe is accurate to +-0.0025" over a 17" x 18" area.

The system is controlled by a Z80 CPU and two step motor micro controllers.  An RS-232 link to a PC with control software written in Visual Basic handles all process functions between the Prober and the automated test equipment.

This product is unique in its lightweight construction and compact size for it's accuracy and a unique programmable force probe.

This was possible with the use of timing belts for the drive assembly and use of sophisticated real-time temperature compensation software and calibration.

Future Test did the entire mechanical design and construction as well as the microprocessor design and programming.  Pictured above is the actual prototype unit that is in service for the last 6 years.
