The Universe Control Board is a diverse application of three microcontrollers used to automate control of all peripheral functions of a PC and arcade game interface. This design is used in the PC arcade market to control the execution of games in an arcade environment. All peripheral functions of a PC and arcade devices (coinboxes, game timers, attract devices, etc.) are controlled by this circuit board via 'macro code', a high level human readable code generated by the arcade manufacturer. Three microcontrollers are used to control all the functions. One microcontroller is used to control a solid state audio recorder chip for playback of prerecorded messages. A second microcontroller controls a quad stereo mixer circuit with power amplifier outputs, a Pioneer serial communications interface and high current output switches. The third microcontroller controls switching of video signals, serial mice, joysticks, emulation of mice and joysticks, coinbox / credit module functions, PC communications and macro code execution. Future Test used analog design, digital design and microcontroller design techniques developing this product. Currently this circuit board is in production and the customer has hundreds of units in the field. Customer: Ferris Productions Inc.
